Abstract

581,851. Carding engines. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., and WALLER, M. May 18, 1944, No. 9538. [Class 120 (i)] A drawing-off mechanism, for dealing with a fleece intermediate of scribblers or carding engines, of the kind comprising guiding cones to engage the selvedges of the fleece is characterised in that the cones are positively rotated and not driven only by frictional contact with the fleece. The cones, preferably provided with pulleys 16, 17 may be driven by bands 25, 26 from the calender roller 12, or from the undershaft which drives the calender rollers, the outer -cones 10b being driven from the inner cones 10a. In their application to a burr crushing machine, the cones may be driven from the polished roller which precedes the crushing rollers. Specification 550,908 is referred to.
