[Also in Division D2] A web 6 being fed through a machine such as a calender is guided by guide rollers 7 associated with suction boxes 9 which brake the web. The boxes may be disposed on either side of the web. The boxes may be rendered operative simultaneously or in a desired sequence after starting the calender and controlled during operation automatically.
