Abstract

1,056,372. Feeding webs. BELOIT EASTERN CORPORATION. Jan. 29, 1965 [Feb. 3, 1964], No. 4011/65. Heading B6B. A web passing from delivery to receiving means travels over a guide roller rotated by the movement of the web, being wrapped about the guide roller over an arc of between 5 and 180 degrees, and in order to eliminate the formation of a boundary layer of air between the roller and the web, with resultant slowing down of the roller and subsequent marking of the web surface, the roller is provided with recesses in the form of holes or grooves which may communicate with the interior of the drum, and to which suction may be applied.
