Abstract

380,606. Electric stop-motions for drawing-frames. SCOTT, W. J., 78, Collins Street, Woonsocket, Rhode Island, U.S.A. Sept. 25, 1931, No. 26757. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii).] The circuit-closing unit of an electric stopmotion for drawing-frames comprises a sliver guide 19, Figs. 1 and 3, through which the slivers 11 travel and to which are hinged at 28 contact plates 27 supported by the sliver and contacting with a stationary bar 29 when the sliver breaks or slackens to a pre-determined degree. The slivers from cans 10 pass through openings 25 which taper towards the delivery face of the guide 19, to a diameter less than that of the sliver on the supply side. The bar 29 is adjustably bolted, using insulating washers, to the guide 19 which is on a bar 23 preferably adjustable in vertical slots 22 in brackets 20 bolted at 21 to the apron 12. A solenoid 33, Fig. 8, releases a latch 34 when contact is made, the belt-shifting rod 38 and belt-fork 39 being moved by a tension spring 27.
