Abstract

184,922. Whitehead, W., and Whitehead, N., (trading as Whitehead, W. & J.), Smith, C., and Varley, E. W. June 9, 1921. Stop-motions.-An electric stop-motion for roving and like machines comprises cranked levers D carried by a frame F and pivoted on one of the circuit wires A, B. Each yarn Y passes through an eye D<1> in one end of a detector member D, which, when the yarn is unbroken, occupies the position shown in full lines. On a yarn breaking, the corresponding lever D takes up the position shown in dotted lines and bridges the circuit wires A, B. An electromagnet M is thus excited, and attracts the end L<1> of a lever L, which then releases the end L<3> of a lever L<4>, which knocks up a pin P and stops the machine. The levers L<4>, L resume their normal position on restarting the machine. Specifications 21292/92 and 16348/03 are referred to.
