Abstract

471,140. Theodolites. ASKANIAWERKE AKT.-GES. VORM. CENTRALWERKSTATT DESSAU UND C. BAMBERGFRIEDENAU, and ROUX, E. Dec. 7, 1936, No. 33544. [Class 97 (ii)] A friction coupling is interposed between the telescope and the worm gear for effecting fine adjustment so that coarse adjustment can be carried out without operating the gear. The vertical main axis rests in the socket 2 and carries the box 10 in which the telescope 16 is rotatable about its horizontal optical axis. The fine adjustment screws 4, 11 are carried by a housing fixed to the main axis. The screw 4 engages a worm wheel rotatable on the socket 2 and frictionally engaged by a spring urged fibre disc 6. The screw 11 engages a worm wheel rotatable round the telescope axis and frictionally coupled to the vertical graduated circle 15 by the spring urged fibre disc 12. An adjustable wedge shaped disc 9 enables the two axes to be accurately set at right-angles.
