Abstract
499,299. Range-finders &c. ZEISS, C., [Firm of]. Aug. 31, 1938, No. 25443. Convention date, Sept. 9, 1937. [Class 97 (i)] In a deviator for optical measuring-instruments such as range-finders, comprising two prisms e, e rotatable about the same axis through equal angles in opposite senses so as to vary the angle of deviation of rays passing through the prisms, the prism mountings d are provided with radial extensions f which are equally inclined to the line bisecting the angle between the refracting edges of the prisms and bear at their extremities against surfaces u, at right-angles to the said bisector, of a member r displaceable parallel to the bisecting line. With this arrangement, equal displacements of the member r produce equal variations in the deviation produced by the prism. The member r is displaced by a screw s along guides p. For adjustment of its effective length, each arm f is made in two relatively slidable parts, the outer part consisting of a sleeve h terminating in a fork l within which is rotatably mounted a roller m bearing against the surface u and held in contact therewith by a spring v.
