Abstract

471,065. Wireless receiving-apparatus. ROBINSON, J. Feb. 24, 1936, No. 5540. [Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver means are provided to produce different phase changes for wanted and second channel signals and a reactive coupling is provided such as to assist the wanted and oppose the second channel signals. Fig. 1 shows a frequency changer 12 having an input circuit 10 tuned to the frequency of the local oscillator 11 to produce the necessary relative phase change for the wanted and second channel signals. This circuit is preferably such as to give a response for wanted and second channel signals of onequarter the response at resonance. Beat frequency energy is combined with energy from the local oscillator 11 and is applied through a phase adjusting device 16 to the input. In a modification the tuned circuit of the local oscillator produces the required change in phase between the two signals, Fig. 3. A one-way device 20 is provided in the input and a filter 22 to isolate the oscillator frequency for combination with heat frequency energy. In a further modification the reaction is effected entirely in the pre-detection stage of the receiver.
