Abstract
470,637. Supporting pipes. PAILIN, G., and FERGUSON PAILIN, Ltd. Jan. 14, 1936, No. 1223. [Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXV] Pipes are secured to control - gear panels by cleating them to a framework shaped similarly to the shape of the runs of piping and which is attached to the panel preferably at a few points only. The cleats each comprise a pair of uprights, adapted for connection to the framework, between which are held a plurality of cleat bars for receiving the pipes. The framework is preferably formed of channel sectioned strip 1, Figs. 5 and 6, the base of which is formed with rows of slots 5, 6 and the sides 2 of which are formed with inwardly flanged edges 3. The sections of the strip 1 are connected together by fish plates having lugs 8, Fig. 6, which are inserted in the slots 6 and bent over to grip the base portions of the strips. The uprights 14 Fig. 5, are preferably of sheet metal, the metal being shaped and bent to provide at one end of the upright a pedestal portion 15 having slots 19 adapted for engagement over the flanges 3 of the framework. The uprights are retained in position by the cleat bars 10, 11 having channelled ends 13 which fit the uprights. A channel member 20, having slots 21 through which the uprights pass, retains the cleat bars in position. Movement of the uprights longitudinally of the strip 1 is prevented by deforming the flanges of the strip at the sides of the pedestal portions 15. When the number of pipes to be carried by the cleat necessitates cleat bars which are longer than the width of the strip 1, as shown in Fig. 6, one of the uprights may be extended laterally as indicated by the dotted lines of Fig. 5.
