[Class 55 (i)] [Also in Group XVIII] In a door for a horizontal coking chamber A with heating walls B, a frame casting E extends around the door opening, and is clamped by levers F bearing against a member d on a vertical girder D. Flanged members e carried by the door frame bear against the oven wall. The door comprises vertical channels H with cross members H<1>, H<2>, H'. The members H<2> carry pivot pins to support latch bars I engaging with hooks I<2> to secure the door. An intermediate section of the door comprises a metal plate K with integral flange K<1> around the edge to engage the sealing surface E<1>. Alternatively the flange may be a separate member welded to the plate K. The plate is suspended near the top by a horizontal shaft L supported at its ends by the channel H and passing through brackets K<6> bolted to the plate K, and to a heavy angle member M. The plate K is flexible, and is pressed into engagement with the door frame by screws N, each passing through a nut P carried by the channel H, and each having a head N<1> engaging a recess in a reinforcement O on the plate K. In a modification, Fig. 8, the sealing flange K<10> of the flexible plate KA is welded to the plate and extends rearwardly, where it carries socket members N<18> to receive bolts N<10> adapted to press it against the door frame. The brackets N<12> may be swung around the bolts N<10> when the bolts N<14> are removed, to facilitate removal of the plate KA. Specification 468,418 is referred to.
