Abstract

314,281. Wolff, E. Sept. 19, 1928. Coke-oven and like doors.-A coke-oven or like door is provided with a flexibly supported packing- frame which is sufficiently flexible to accommodate itself to any distortion of the door frame, which is strongly constructed to avoid small local deflections. The door 14 is provided with a refractory lining 15 and is locked against the frame 11 by pivoted bars 16, all connected together for simultaneous operation. Rollers 18 engage hooks 19 with inclined surfaces to press the door against the frame. A frame formed of angle pieces 23, 24 is connected to the door 14 by a thin metal plate 20 protected by asbestos 21, and is pressed against the frame 11 by screws 26 carried by lugs 25 arranged around the periphery of the door. The edge of the angle piece 23 is bevelled to obtain better contact with the frame 11.
