Abstract
467,800. Casting-machines. HAESSLER, P., (trading as PRAZISIONSGUSSFABRIK NURNBERG GEB. ECKERT). Jan. 7, 1937, No. 557. Convention date, Jan. 8, 1936. [Class 83 (i)] In a pressure casting-machine a piston 7 is pressed into a chamber 1, charged with molten metal 8 and in engagement with a die 4. A cam 33 on the piston rod 34 opens a valve 25 to admit low pressure gas between piston and metal 8. As soon as the gas has forced the metal to fill the die, continued movement of the piston increases the pressure in the chamber 1 to a point limited by an adjustable relief valve 35, escape of gas through the valve 25 being prevented by a check valve 28. After casting, the piston is returned and the cam 33 closes the inlet valve 25 and opens an exhaust valve 22.
