[Class 83 (i)] A pressure-casting machine has a reservoir a communicating directly with the forcing chamber e, the aperture being closed, when casting, by a hollow member h pressed down by a weight q. The molten metal is forced into the mould by air admitted by a pipe y, Fig. 2, or by a piston m which, when withdrawn by a lever u, lifts the member h to admit a fresh charge of metal to the chamber e. When the piston m and its rod l are dispensed with the pipe y is connected to the lever u so that the member h can be raised.
