Abstract
467,058. Distilling zinc. ALLOYS CO. Aug. 31, 1936, No. 23813. Convention date, Aug. 30, 1935. [Class 82 (i)] In a plant for the production of zinc dust, zinc vapour is introduced from the mouth of a retort 23 into an expansion chamber 26 from which a mixture of gas and entrained zinc dust is diverted through an outlet 12 and to which it is readmitted through an inlet 16 in the neighbourhood of the mouth of the retort after having been circulated through a dust collector. Part of the gas re-entering the expansion chamber may be guided into the retort by means of a deflector 33. Gas in the chamber 26 may be caused to swirl about a central axis by circulating it through pipes 18, 19; or a similar movement may be produced by arranging the-inlet 16 to discharge into the chamber 26 tangentially.
