463,507. Electric incandescent lamps with residual gases. EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI RESZVENYTARSASAG. Feb. 20, 1936, No. 5143. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1935. [Class 39 (ii)] In a method of recovering gas from the pipes or ducts of apparatus for filling the. bulbs of electric incandescent lamps or discharge tubes with a gas mixture, particularly one containing krypton, the gas mixture which remains behind in the pumping and filling machine after sealing off the filling tube of a gas-filled bulb is pumped off and, it may be, after purification, is used again, unchanged in composition, in the apparatus, for the filling of other incandescent lamps or discharge tubes. An automatic pumping and filling machine of known type may be modified by providing an additional exhausting pipe. The Figure shows diagrammatically the principle of the invention applied to a known type of non-automatic apparatus wherein lamp bulbs 2, 3 are connected by tubes 2<a>, 3<a> to a pipe 1 which, through a pipe 4 is connected to a pipe 5 with branches 20, 21, 24, 22 respectively connected by cocks 6 ... 9 to an exhausting-pump 11, a reservoir 12 for a scavenging-gas such as nitrogen, an air inlet, and a reservoir 13 for the filling gas. In accordance with the invention an additional pipe 23 is connected from the pipe 5 to a cock controlling a pump 14 which pumps off the gas left behind in the other pipes after the closing of cocks 6 ... 9 and the sealing off of the bulbs 2, 3. The gas is forced into a purifier 15 from which it may be delivered with the aid of a pump 16, directly or indirectly into the reservoir 13 for the filling-gas. Specification 420,877 is referred to.
