[Class 136 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] A device for shifting a cycle-chain laterally into engagement with different sized driven sprockets 20, comprises a single guide-roller 15, between flanges 19, extending near to the sprockets 20, the roller and flanges being guided on two parallel spindles 31, 13, carried by an axially fixed, pivoted chain-tensioning arm 8. Around the pivot 7 of the arm 8 is arranged a chain-tensioning torsion-spring 10, adjusted by turning the pivot 7, which has a lock-nut 11. A sheathed tension-cable 25, terminating in a chain 24, shifts the roller and flanges laterally between adjustable limits determined by screwed collars 28, 32 on the lower guide-spindle 13.
