[Class 86] [Also in Group VI] A device for agitating fluid matter, particularly for whipping cream or eggs, comprises a double-walled vessel which receives the fluid. A mixture of air and water is forced into the jacket 2 by a water-jet injector 1. The air separates and passes, by way of a pipe 3, chamber 12, and distributer 4-6, into the fluid to agitate it. The water is continuously discharged by a waste pipe 10, so that it serves to cool the fluid. The distributer comprises a plate 6 with circular or radial openings, a porous layer 5, and a perforated layer 4. The air pressure in the jacket is controlled by a valve in the pipe 10, which valve cannot close the pipe wholly, so that there is no danger of the water in the jacket entering the pipe 3.
