Abstract
460,068. Latch &c. handles. HART, H. M., HART, H. R., and HART, E. H. L. Jan. 21, 1936, No. 1913. [Class 44] To allow automatic adjustment for different thicknesses of door, the handles 1, 2 applied to opposite faces of the door 5 are rotatably mounted in rose-plates 3, 4 secured to the door and are held against axial movement by split pins 16 passing through short non-circular spindles 9 projecting inwards from the handles. A washer 13 is interposed between the pin and inner face of the rose-plate, which is recessed at 12 to accommodate pin and washer. The spindles 9 slidably engage in the non-circular bore of a sleeve 18 which may form part of the latch operating member 19. As shown, the spindles extend into the handles to form cores 11 round which the handles are moulded.
