495,681. Attaching handles to spindles. GRAVESEN, C. C. March 3, 1938, No. 6692. Convention date, March 3, 1937. [Class 44] In a door handle construction having two handles 1 fixed to stems 7 adapted to be coupled against relative rotation by the non-circular bore of a bush 15 integral with or forming part of a lock mechanism, the handles are slidably mounted in rose plates 5 and coupled axially by a screwed pin secured to one stem and engaging a tapped hole in the other, axial displacement of the junction of the stems relative to the bush being prevented by stop means. The stop means consists of collars 16 abutting the bush and pins 18 passing through the stems. Assembly is carried out by removing the pin 18 from one of the stems, passing that stem completely through the bush, screwing the stems together an amount depending on the thickness of the door, and then sliding into position and replacing the pin. When the handles are made of pressed material, such as artificial resin, the stems are preferably moulded therein.
