Abstract
459,086. Motor vehicles. FISCHER, S., 19, Slovenska, Prague. Jan. 23, 1936, No. 2132. Convention date, Jan. 24,1935. [Classes 79 (ii) and 79 (iii)] In a motor vehicle having independentlysprung driving wheels, the power unit, comprising the transverse engine or motor 1, change-speed gear 2, an intermediate shaft 5 and axle driving gear 9, is mounted on that part of the chassis frame which is behind the spring suspension, the wheels being driven through articulated shafts 15 and being connected to the frame through levers 17 or other means. In the construction shown, the power unit is secured to bracket plates 10, 10<1> which are mounted on the frame 14 on rubber or other springs 11. The engine or motor may be an internal-combustion or other engine or an electric motor. The change-speed gear 2 drives the shaft 5 through spur gearing 4, and the shaft 5 drives the axle differential preferably through an auxiliary two-speed gear 61, 62. The main and auxiliary change-speed gears are respectively controlled by rods 22, 3<2>. The road wheels are connected to the frame by levers 17 controlled by springs 18. The engine is cooled by a radiator (not shown) mounted in an air duct 19, the air from which also passes over the power unit where it is guided by plates 20, 21 and escapes through side ducts in the tail U<2> of the car.
