[Classes 79 (iii), 79 (iv), and 79 (v)] [Also in Group XXXII] In a motor vehicle of streamlined form the body is constructed with the front windows plane and the engine mounted at the rear. The front seat comprising the driver's and a passenger's seat is displaced more forwardly than usual and is disposed over the front axle, the sides of the body being recessed and curved as shown at 9, 10 to permit swivelling of the spring casings 5 and wheels 3 which are independently sprung. The undercarriage is of box section 1 and comprises a central beam working into two branches 23 towards the rear and also widening at the area of the front wheels, reinforcements 53 being provided. The undercarriage also forms a conduit for the cooling air for the engine, the air being admitted at the widened front part 27 and being led to the rear finally circulating in the engine casing 29 and thence passing to the radiator 28 mounted in rear of engine. The engine is mounted on rubber blocks 37, Fig. 8, and directly or indirectly on a transverse member 38, Fig. 7, which carries the rear drive transmission shafts 18 and spring casings 5, the transverse member being also provided with a curved frame 39 whereby it may be secured to the engine casing. By this means the engine and rear wheel drive and suspension may be dismounted as a unit. The interior of the undercarriage may also serve to contain partly the steering rod 31 and engine controls. The spaces between the side walls 34 of the engine casing 29, Fig. 5, and the outer panelling 35 may serve as luggage &c. compartments, further compartments being provided, if desired, secured to a hinged part of the outer panelling and in the stabilizing fin 21, Fig. 2.
