Abstract

456,885. Tables. BURRILL, R., 55, Amberton Road, Easterly Road, Leeds. June 30, 1936, No. 18074. [Class 52 (iii)] In an extending table of the kind with a disappearing centre section 8, the end leaves 1 are connected, so as to move simultaneously, by an endless flexible wire, band, cord, or the like 11 carried by pulleys 10 in the table frame 3. The upper and lower reaches of the cord 11 are connected by bolts &c. 13 to transverse bars 5, the ends of which move in slots 6. These bars connect the slide bars 2 of the leaves 1, and carry wedge-shaped members 16 which engage with V-shaped blocks 15 on the underside of the centre leaf 8, and raise it to the level of the end leaves. In a modification, the end leaves are each made in two hinged-together parts ; as the table is extended, the centre section falls, and is then covered by turning inwards the innermost of the two hinged parts of the end leaves.
