Abstract
455,423. Snap - action switches. DIAMOND H. SWITCHES, Ltd., Gunnersbury Avenue, Chiswick, London. April 24, 1936, No. 11760. Convention date, March 14. [Class 38 (v)] A multiple switch for controlling a two-part heating element in an electric range, comprises three contact blades 43, 44, 45 connected to the mains and movable into and out of engagement with fixed contacts 39, 40, 42 connected to the heating elements, by means of cams 54, 55, 56 on a spindle 29. Each cam comprises a pair of diametrically opposed lobes and intermediate recesses, so that when the spindle is turned in either direction, each circuit condition is effected in two positions spaced 180‹ apart. This enables the index markings OFF, LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH to be marked in a semicircle above the horizontal line through the switch spindle on a face plate 18. A pair of spring-pressed balls 76 engaging a toothed wheel 75 keyed on the switch spindle locates the switch in its operative positions. A spring 93 compressed between the handle 17 and a sleeve 86 screwed on the spindle 29, maintains slots 87 in the handle in drivng engagement with arms 82 of a member 81 keyed on the spindle.
