527,282. Snap-action switches. TURNER, C. A., and DIAMOND H SWITCHES, Ltd. March 13, 1939, No. 3513/40. Divided out of 526,754. [Class 38 (v)] In a rotary multi-position switch for controlling an electric cooker, the position of the operating shaft 4 is determined by the co-operation of a cam 9 on the shaft with a spring-pressed ball 10 and the cam is formed with a number of depressions, 14, corresponding to particular degrees or "steps" of heat and a circular portion 13 corresponding to a range of movement of the operating handle and shaft over which heat may be varied continuously instead of in steps. The frictional engagement of the ball 10 with the cam holds the shaft firm throughout this range. The arrangement of the switch contacts and the means for giving the continuous range of heat may be as described in Specifications 515,178 and 526,754.
