Abstract

835,775. Electric selective signalling systems. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Nov. 29, 1957 [Dec. 5, 1956], No. 37244/56. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXVII] An actuator comprises an electric motor 10, a crank 15, driven by the motor, and adapted for O connection to a movable part 17 to displace it between a plurality of preselected positions, and a switch 16 for controlling the motor. The switch mechanism comprises an insulated disc 18 rotateing with a motor-driven spindle 12 and having a notch 19 together with a number of wiper contacts 20-24, the contact 24 engaging -the disc continuously. Thus, if the motor circuit is made through the wiper contacts 23, the motor will rotate until the notch 19-comes below the contact 23 so cutting off the supply to the motor. A selector switch has contacts 26 connected respectively to wiper contacts 20-23, and a rotary arm 27 which is positioned to select the wiper contact through which the motor circuit is completed. The.motor, crank, and switch mechanism may be built as a unitary structure, the crank being capable of moving the part 17 between its extreme positions within one half-revolution of the crank.
