Abstract
784,778. Mechanical switches without quick action. WARMEX, Ltd., and GOLDSTEIN, A. May 16, 1956, No. 15265/56. Class 38 (5). A 3-heat rotary switch for a blanket has an insulating cover, Fig. 2, with a transparent window 51 with a recess 49 underneath for a carrier 52, Fig. 4, also of insulating material. The carrier is recessed to take a lamp 55 and resistance 57 which are wired in series to contacts 60, 61 on the underside of carrier 52, Fig. 5. When the switch is assembled the contacts 60, 61 are pressed on to spring contacts 63, 71 fixed to screws 22, 62 of the switch. The latter comprises a stator carrying contacts 29, 33 held in position by screws 22, 23, 26, 27, 28. Contacts 29, 30 are connected to the incoming supply and contacts 31, 32, 33 to the blanket heater elements, contact 33 being connected to both elements. Screw 28 is wired at 64 to screw 62 for the lamp supply. The rotor 34 carries two groups of interconnected contacts of the strip type. Contacts 35 ... 38 form one group and contacts 40 ... 44 form the second group, spaced as shown in Fig. 3. This shows the switch in one off position VIII and the rotor can be successively rotated through positions IX, X, XI, corresponding to low, medium and high, respectively, to position XII, also an off position. The lamp is illuminated in the three operative positions.
