Abstract

853,359. Centrifugal switches. GLOBE INDUSTRIES Inc. Jan. 29, 1958, No. 3007/58. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXVI] A rotational speed governor for an electric motor comprises two semi-circular discs 25, 26 insulated the one from the other and each carrying a flexible contact arm 32, 34. On being rotated at the critical speed the contacts 36, 38 break to insert resistance into the motor circuit. A twopole commutator may be provided as part of the governor or the rear ends of the semi-circular discs 25, 26 may also function as a face commutator. The screw 42 provides for varying the critical speed of the device and may be substituted by a movable contact 38.
