Abstract
910,609. Centrifugal switches. VINTEN Ltd., W. Nov. 17, 1960 [Nov. 11, 1959], No. 38262/59. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXV] A speed governor for an electric motor 11 comprises a rotary contact 7 mounted on shaft 32 and movable axially and outwardly as the speed increases to engage a contact 12 which is biased towards the contact 7 and thereafter to engage a further contact 13 when the motor has reached a predetermined speed. The contact 7 is spring-biased towards the motor and is movable against the bias under the action of centrifugal weights movable about pivots fixed to the motor shaft, the contact 12 being coaxial with the shaft and the contact 13 being annular and concentric with the shaft. A further pair of contacts 40 of which one is secured to the contact 12, the other being fixed, is opened when contacts 7, 12 engage.
