Abstract
433,972. Mechanical switches without quick-action. HOBBS, E. W., 11, Mill Ridge, Edgware, Middlesex. April 11, 1934, No. 10941. [Class 38 (v)] A multiway switch comprises a hollow arm 12 loosely mounted on a spindle 10 and slidably carrying a spring pressed tappet rod 18 connected to a trough shaped contact arm 21 adapted in the position shown to bridge the circuit between a conducting ring 26 and a contact 30 on a spaced insulating ring 28. On rotating the spindle 10, a cam 15 raises the tappet 18 lifting the contact arm 21 to break the circuit. The side face 25 of the cam 15 then engages the arm 12 to rotate it to a new contacting position when release of the spindle 10 allows the spring 23 to move the tappet down and complete the new circuit.
