[Class 37] A variable inductance particularly for stabilizing electric discharge tube circuits comprises a shell-type core 2 having an air gap 4 at one end of its centre limb and a winding 5 movable along the centre limb. The winding may be fixed in adjusted position as by embedding in wax.
