[Classes 113 (i) and 113 (ii)] [See also Group X] A sheet-metal partition for structures such as ships comprises flanged sheet-metal panels 1 assembled in opposed relation to form box-sections which are secured together in adjacent relation by means of binding plates 4, the joints between the sections being covered by cover plates 7 which are secured to the binding plates by means of interengaging tongues and straps. The panels 1 have L- shaped flanges 2, 3, as shown in sectional plan in Fig. 3, and the flanges 3 of opposed pairs of panels are connected together by rivets, bolts and the like 9, as shown in Fig. 2. A plurality of such box-sections is assembled with the flanges 3 of adjacent sections in contact as shown in Fig. 3, and such sections are secured together by channel-shaped binding plates 4 which are secured by rivets, bolts and the like 5 to the flanges 3. The lower end of each binding plate 4 is provided with an outwardlyextending flange 6 having its outer end 61 bent upwardly to present a tongue. A joint cover-plate 7, which may be of channel form, is located between adjacent box-sections and is provided on its inner face with a plurality of spaced straps 8 providing sockets for engaging the upstanding tongues 6<1> on the binding plates 4. The ends 7<1> of the side walls of the cover plate 7 may be flanged inwardly. The box-sections may present embossed or ornamented surfaces or may be provided with glazed window openings or openings fitted with ventilators.
