[Class 38 (v)] A voltage regulator has an armature f an arm e of which carries a movable contact d which co-operates with a contact a carried on a bimetallic strip b so that on variation of temperature the contact a moves in a plane at right angles to the movement of contact d and thus minimizes localized pitting due to sparking. In a modification the contact is mounted on a spring arm which is moved by thermally sensitive moans which may include an expansible fluid.
