Abstract

500,003. Thermal switches. OSBORN, H. J., and SHARP, W. Feb. 11, 1938, No. 4315. Addition to 467,829. [Class 38 (v)] In an arrangement according to the parent Specification wherein a thermal switch controls an electromagnetic switch, the contact arm of the thermal switch comprises or is carried by two bimetallic strips which are arranged in opposition and only one of which is heated by a current. The arrangement compensates for variations of atmospheric temperature and causes a quicker return movement of the contact arm. The bimetallic strips 1, 1a are shaped as shown and arranged one above the other. The fixed ends are fixed to a pillar 2 and their free ends are connected to each other by L-shaped brackets. The strip 1 is extended to carry contacts 3, 4 which co-operate with contacts 5, 6. Specifications 291,494 and 318,950, [both in Class 38 (v)], are referred to.
