Abstract

452,086. Labels or seals. BYRNE, J. A., 416, Valley Road, West Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A.. Jan. 21, 1936, No. 1916. Convention date, Jan. 21, 1935. [Class 73] An adhesive seal adapted to be pasted on boxes, folders, or containers to prevent unauthorized opening thereof comprises a central area of relatively easily tearable material 1, such as paper, adapted to be pasted to the box &c., and a marginal area of not easily tearable material 2, such as linen or parchment, also adapted to be pasted to the box &c., and provided with weakening perforations 4 in the area 1 for the purpose of ensuring the seal becoming torn on removal from the box &c. The stronger material 2 reinforces the material 1 at the margins and across the centre, is affixed to the imdersurface of the material 1 by adhesive, and is provided with tabs 5 which are not gummed whereby the seal can be readily broken. The material 1 may be paper such as is used for bank cheques or the like, so that any workings thereon cannot be altered without detection.
