Abstract
390,700. Paper milk &c. cartons. TAYLOR, E. Z., 377, Oraton Street, Newark. New Jersey, U.S.A. Aug. 2, 1932, No. 21588. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1931. [Class 66.] A paper vessel for milk &c. comprises a tubular body of truncated conical form and of double thickness, formed by rolling up a blank 6, Fig. 5 or Fig. 8, having adhesive suitably applied to unite the inner and outer layers, the ends of the tubular body part so formed being rolled inwardly with the projecting flanges of end closure discs, the flange of the smaller disc being preferably of notched form. At the end to be opened weakening lines 13, 14, such as scorings or perforations, are formed and tearing tabs 15 are provided enabling a strip of the double wall to be torn out and the adjacent end with the attached portion of the body to be removed. The area between the weakening lines is either lightly coated or treated with a weaker adhesive than the remainder, or the wax or other waterproofing material employed is relied on to bind the layers at this part. The weakening lines may be stopped short of the edge of the blank to. afford a hinged temporary cover for the container.
