Abstract

413,875. Paper milk &c. cartons. HERRMANN, E. P., 279, 4th Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. July 20, 1933, No. 20457. Convention date, Sept. 10, 1932. [Class 66.] In a paper vessel of the kind described in Specification 390,700, comprising a double thickness tubular body of truncated conical shape formed by rolling up a blank and provided with end closures, the end to be opened is formed with a pair of spirally arranged converging weakening lines 2, 3 traversing the outer portion A of the assembled vessel and with a single line 5 preferably parallel to the edge of the blank, traversing the inner portion, line 5 being interrupted at 8 to afford a hinge portion when complete detachment of the end is not desired. By pulling on the tab 7 the strip between the lines 2, 3 is completely detached and the end can then be removed by rupture of the body at the line 5. The closure 10, which may be that at the wider end, can be applied as a reclosure.
