Abstract

413,873. Paper milk &c. cartons. HERRMANN, E. P., 279, 4th Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A. July 20, 1933, No. 20455. Convention date, Sept. 10, 1932. [Class 66.] In a paper vessel of the kind described in Specification 390,700, comprising a double thickness tubular body of truncated conical shape, formed by rolling up a blank, and provided with end closures, the end to be opened is formed with weakening lines 1, 2, Fig. 1, disposed as shown, a tab formed by a out 6, made at the point where the lines approach each other, lying adjacent to the edge of the outer portion A of the assembled vessel, as shown in Fig. 2. By pulling on the tab the wide and narrow strips 8 are removed together and the end 9 becomes detached as shown in Fig. 4. The weakening lines may be interrupted at 7 to afford a hinge portion, when complete detachment of the end is not desired. Fig. 5 shows a modified construction of the opening arrangement, cuts 10, 11 being formed in the edge of the portion A to afford access to the tab which is disposed therebeneath.
