Abstract

1283207 Pouring apertures for cartons CHRISTENSSONS MASKINER & PATENTER AB 1 Oct 1969 [29 Oct 1968] 48178/69 Heading B8P A carton for liquids comprises an outer cardboard shell and a plastics liner, one inner closure flap 20 of the shell and the liner adjacent thereto being provided with a pouring aperture 24 which is covered by an inner plastics layer 25 attached to the liner and an outer thicker plastics layer 26 which is attached to the inner layer 25 over an area 27 smaller than that of the aperture 24 and includes a gripping tongue 30 for tearing away the parts of the layers 25 and 26 which are attached to each other. The aperture 24 and area 27 may be drop-shaped, as shown, or rhombic, and the latter is raised in a pattern out of the plane containing it. The tongue 30 is adhered to the side 12 of the shell at a spot 31 and a cut 32 is located between the spot 31 and the closing flap 20 to arrest any separation of the layers of cardboard when the gripping tongue is removed. The end flaps 19, 21 may be cut away to expose the aperture 24, as shown, or one or both of the flaps may be complete and perforated to allow the aperture to be exposed.
