Abstract
452,015. Excavators. RANSOMES & RAPIER, Ltd., Waterside Iron Works, and BARNARD, E., 501, Norwich Road, both in Ipswich. Feb. 14, 1935, No. 4781. [Class 68 (i)] In an excavator comprising a drag bucket controlled by hoist and drag lines, the bucket has parts, such as skids A<3> or rollers, adapted to bear against the ground in advance of the cutter E to limit the depth of cut. Skids or rollers may also be provided behind the cutter, and a rear cutter F may also be provided. The bucket comprises hollow side walls A<1> connected by a rear wall B and yoke C; lugs D receive connections leading to the drag line. The cutter E may be pivoted at E<2> for adjustment and held by bolts E<3> engaging either of two sets of holes; the cutter F may be similarly adjustable about pivots F<3> and held by bolts F<5> also engaging either of two sets of holes. A central plate F' reinforces the cutter F. Removable plates G, G<1> cover the bolts. The hoist and drag line drums may be interconnected to: move the bucket in a predetermined path such as a straight line path.
