Abstract

573,102. Excavating. AVELING- BARFORD, Ltd., and HENDERSON, W. M. Nov. 18, 1943, No. 19271. [Class 68 (i)], In a scraper or bulldozer, the earth-moving blade 2 has pivoted to its lower edge a preferably sectional supplementary cutting blade 8 adapted to support the blade 2 and to ride over the ground when in the position shown, or to be moved so as to penetrate the ground by pressure on one or more pedals 13, or by levers and links &c. Means may be provided to hold the blade 8 in adjusted position, while springs 15 tend to return the blade. The earth-moving blade 2 is welded to a box yoke 3 pivoted to a central longitudinal beam 1 and held in the desired angular adjustment by pins 4; a hand lever 5 acts through a sprocket and chain to raise or lower the blade 2.
