[Class 122 (v)] [See also XXX] In pneumatic packing or stowing machines, as used for example in filling the goaf in mines, of the type in which the material is delivered to the blast pipe 15 from a hopper 16 by a rotary pocketted drum revolving in a divided radiallyadjustable casing, the ends of the drum are fitted with stuffing-boxes comprising two annular members 22, 23 of which 22 accommodates the packing round its periphery and also provides a perforated lubricating chamber 31 delivering to the packing, while 23 provides the compression means 24 and the bearing 25 for the drum.
