Abstract

452,481. Stuffing-box substitutes. BERLIN-SUHLER WAFFEN-UND FAHRZEUGWERKE GES., 37, Tiergartenstrasse, Berlin. March 16, 1936, No. 7819. Convention date, March 22, 1935. [Class 122 (v)] The driving- shaft 4 of a compressor is journalled in ball bearings 5, 6 in a casing 8, 9 comprising two oil chambers. Packing rings 14,15,20,21 with elastic packing material 16 housed therein, are pressed by helical springs against the ends of the two chambers. A disc 11 with a radial oil channel 13 surrounds the shaft between the ports 8, 9 and supplies oil to the rings 14, 15. The bearing 6 is supplied with oil through a cup 25, the oil passing to the ring 21. The ring 20 is supplied with oil from the bearing 5 fed from the crank casing. The oil is supplied to the packing-rings at points adjacent the driving-shaft.
