Boxes; bushes; packing, inserting and extracting; stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-In a stuffing-box for rotating pumps &c. of the type in which a lantern ring B is supplied with lubricant by a passage L removal and insertion of the packing is facilitated by the provision of a gland P at the inner end of the stuffing-box. The gland P screws into a ring R secured by pins P<1>. Additional packing P<3> in the outer gland G is compressed by a gland G'.
