Abstract

341,004. Lubricating stuffing-boxes. SWISS LOCOMOTIVE & MACHINE WORKS, Winterthur, Switzerland. Oct. 7, 1929, No. 30343. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1928. [Class 12 (ii).] In a packing for the shaft of a rotary compresser of a refrigerating machine &c., of the type in which two bushes 8, 9 rotating with the shaft and pressed apart by a spring 12 are contained in an oil chamber 6, oil is supplied to the chamber 6 by a pump, or from an oil separator under the maximum pressure of the compresser. The oil passes from the chamber 6 through a pipe 17, containing an adjustable reducing-valve 18, to an annular space 19, from which it passes to the bearing 3.
