Abstract

451,156. Pistons. HOWLETT, J. W., Ravensconrt, and W.P. (LYMINGTON), Ltd., Radial Works, Stanford Road, both in Lyming- ton, Hampshire. Aug. 6, 1935, Nos. 22147 and 23662. [Class 122 (i)] The bosses 13 extend into openings in the skirt and are supported from the head by an annular web 12 which is thickened above the bosses and has inverted-V notches therein between the bosses. The head and skirt may be separated by one or more circumferential slots 16 which may be arranged in different planes. The skirt may have longitudinal, H, T or other slits which may extend from the holes 17 or slots 16 to or towards the open end of the skirt, and the edges of such slits may be flexibly connected. Grooves 20 which may have holes 21 therein or may be bridged at one or more places may be provided between the thrust and non-thrust faces of the piston.
