Abstract

450,066. Auxiliary air admission devices. MITTAG, A., 135, Bautznerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Nov. 18, 1935, No. 31886. [Class 7 (ii)] During overrunning, air is supplied through an inlet controlled by a two-seat valve, the discs of which form part of the wall of the mixture conduit when the valve is closed. A double valve 9 which forms part of the walls of the induction pipe 7 is normally pressed on to its seating by a spring 11 and closes air inlets 8, but on the commencement of overrunning, when the accelerator pedal 27 is released, an operating rod 26 thereof engages a contact 29, on a pivoted bar 32, with a contact 30 to complete the circuit of an electromagnet 15 which attracts a disc armature 13 on the rod 10 of the valve 9 against the action of the spring 11 and open the valve 9. Simultaneously, a projection 18 on a pivoted armature 17 snaps past a cone 14 on the valve rod to hold the valve open after a projection 25 on a resilient blade 24 has lifted a contact 21 on the blade away from a contact 23 in the circuit of the electromagnet 15 to break the circuit. The contact 21 on the blade 24 now engages a contact 22 in circuit with a second electromagnet 16 and a contact 31 opposite the contact 30. Movement of the rod 26 in opening the throttle, moves over the bar 32 to engage the contacts 29, 31, the magnet 16 attracts the armature 17 freeing the core 14 from the catch 18 and the valve 9 closes.
