Abstract

448,281. Hinges; fastenings. WESTWOOD, R. M., 1, Grieve Street, Dunfermline, Fife, and MUIRHEAD & SONS, Ltd., Grangemouth Saw Mills, Grangemouth. Jan. 28, 1935, No. 2721. [Classes 44 and 65 (ii)] [See also Group X] The lower sash 1 of a window is slidably hinged to the frame by concealed butt hinges having one leaf connected to a slotted opening in the lining by a bolt and nut 18. The slot has front and back slotted plates and the bolt may have a distance sleeve 21, Fig. 2. The sliding leaf may be secured to a slotted plate 22, Fig. 6, covering a recess in the frame in which the nut and washer slide. Opposite to the hinge the sash may be secured by a bolt 28 entering a slotted plate in the frame, the slot being preferably inclined to cause a wedging action when the sash is lowered.
