Abstract
447,282. Hydraulic transmission of power. SINCLAIR, H., 38, De Vere Gardens, Kensington, London. Nov. 14, 1934, No. 32824. [Class 69 (ii)] In an hydraulic coupling of the kinetic type, a slidable member for varying torque transmission capacity is drawn automatically into the circuit under the influence of a fluid pressure difference set up when the torque transmitted rises. As shown in Fig. 1, the member 11 disposed in a chamber 8 is carried by a hub 13 acted on by a spring 18 normally to hold it in the position shown. The chamber 8 communicates with the core space by ducts 21, 22, or ports 23, Fig. 5, are provided. A gland 7 is preferably of the diaphragm type described in Specification 400,741. In a modification, the member 11 is carried by a slidable rod 24, Fig. 2, having a pin 29 acted on by a spring 18a, the effect of the latter being varied by adjusting a collar 31. In another form, the throttling member 11b, Fig. 3, is normally accommodated in the core space and has a rib or ribs 35 engaging a guide recess or recesses 36. In a further form, the core member 20b is omitted. Specification 314,157, [Class 69 (ii)], also is referred to.
