[Class 69 (ii)] In hydraulic operating mechanism such as described in Specifications 376,058 and 385,042, a sleeve 29 surrounds the shaft 24 and extends from a point above the liquid surface to a point below the openings 23 in the tubular member 22, in order to prevent the introduction of air into the impeller 19. Further, the piston 14 towards the end of its return stroke acts through a spring 35 and against a spring 36 to seat a baffle plate 31 on the ports 21 and thus prevent shocks.
