Abstract
447,145. Machinery guards. UDAL, J. D., 45, Upper Dean Street, Birmingham. Dec. 27, 1934. No. 37051. Addition to 356,453. [Class 80 (iv)] The power-press guard described in the parent Specification is modified by the provision of means for adjusting the position of the shaft h on which the main frame i is pivoted and in securing the second frame m to the same shaft h. The shaft h is carried by one end of arms g secured to a shaft c which is adjustably clamped in brackets b. A spring l normally holds a transverse bar k<1> of the frame i against the arms g. To prevent accidental outward displacement of the frame i relative to the frame m a stop piece w fixed to the shaft h bears against the bar k<1>. The frame m is swung to and fro in front of the tools o, p, by the linkage shown, and if the hand of an operator be in the danger zone during the descent of the ram it is caught between the two frames, which thereupon move together away from the machine.
